Headteacher - Radstock Primary School

Radstock Primary School is a two form School with a nursery and a 21-place Autism Resource (partially full at present), in Earley, Wokingham.  Radstock has an Academy Order and will become part of the Orchard Learning Alliance multi-academy trust.  We are an ambitious school and proud of our diverse community.  We encourage children to develop enquiring minds, enjoy their learning and have the best opportunities to succeed.  We are seeking to appoint an inspirational Headteacher who can continue to drive the school forward strategically and build on the strengths of this wonderful community school.  Applications are welcomed from current Headteachers or Leaders that aspire to be Headteachers.

Finance Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Officer to join our Multi-Academy Trust at a really pivotal point in our growth. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic team player to join us as we look to the future as a ten-school Trust.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for financial transactions in the new Trust, complying with the Internal Financial Regulations and statutory requirements. They will become a key part of our Central Finance team, liaising with all our schools as well as other stakeholders.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Previous Finance experience (this does not need to be within schools, although that would be beneficial)
  • A confident team player with a positive, can-do attitude
  • Finance qualifications would be desirable, but we are happy to consider qualified by experience. As a Trust we encourage professional development and would be willing to support further study, if desired, subject to agreement.

Local Governance Professional

Options for: part time, permanent | part time, fixed term contract | Hourly rate: £16.37 - £17.76

An exciting opportunity has arisen for one or more dynamic individuals to support several primary schools within our Multi Academy Trust as Local Governance Professionals within the Orchad Governance Team. Some schools are academies in the Trust, and some are currently local authority maintained schools with academy orders to join the Trust in 2025.  It is a very exciting time to join the Orchard Learning Alliance!  This is a flexible role which involves some in-person meetings and some working from home.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual, as part of the Orchard Governance Team, to support one or more primary schools within our Multi-Academy Trust. The number of schools will be allocated depending on availability/ location. Your supportive role will ensure that the administrative and procedural requirements are met and Local Governing Boards can fulfil their statutory responsibilities. We require someone who is motivated and able to work independently, so duties can be completed during hours to suit ensuring that deadlines are met.

All schools are within the Wokingham and Reading areas of Berkshire. While you will need to attend in-person meetings at your designated schools’ premises from time to time, much of your work can be completed from home.

You will be able to offer us:

  • Proactive support, working with Chairs and Headteachers, with agenda setting and supporting paperwork;
  • Your time to attend governing board meetings and additional training, team meetings, etc.
  • Advice to the governing body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters (full training provided);
  • Understanding and abiding by the confidential nature of the role at all times.

We will be able to offer you:

  • Full initial training and continued professional development;
  • Access to the National Governance Association (NGA), and Confederation of School Trusts (CST);
  • Access to a Governance Forum and support with annual agenda planning;
  • Laptop and IT support;
  • A Governance Network;

Salary Range

NJC Pay Scale Grade 5: £27,711 - £30,060 pro rata (pay award pending) depending on experience.

Hourly rate: £16.37 - £17.76.

Hours

Core commitment of 60 hours per year / 6 meetings per year (per school).  Approx. 20-30 additional hours per year required for training, team meetings, etc. 

This equates to 1.5 hours per week on average (per school), or 10 hours per half term (per school), plus the additional hours.

Flexibility to accommodate an irregular work pattern with in-person attendance at meetings, mostly in the evenings.  

Meetings will take place during term-time only, and you can choose when to complete the remaining work as long as agreed expectations and timelines are met.

Location

Much of your work can be completed from home and you will be expected to attend in-person meetings at school premises during term-time. 

The schools are all based in the Wokingham and Reading areas of Berkshire.

Place of work for expenses purposes will be the Orchard Learning Alliance head office, c/o Waingels, Waingels Road, RG5 4RF.

Contract Type Part-time, permanent or part time, fixed term.  Annualised hours means pay spread evenly across the year.
Reporting To Governance Professional, Orchard Governance Team.
